MoonPay Secures NYDFS BitLicense, Strengthening U.S. Regulatory Position
MoonPay, a cryptocurrency payments platform serving over 20 million users, has obtained the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) BitLicense alongside a money transmitter license. This milestone solidifies MoonPay's regulatory compliance across all U.S. jurisdictions, adding to existing approvals in 46 states and international registrations in the UK, Australia, Canada, and several European markets.
The BitLicense approval arrives as MoonPay establishes its largest U.S. office in New York City. CEO Ivan Soto-Wright emphasized the company's commitment to regulatory collaboration, stating the firm aims to "make crypto accessible to everyone." The NYDFS license is widely regarded as the industry's most rigorous compliance benchmark.
This development occurs against the backdrop of the TRUMP administration's crypto-friendly policy direction, which has increased demand for U.S. market access among digital asset firms. MoonPay's licensing achievement signals growing institutional acceptance of cryptocurrency infrastructure providers.
